Connecting ground mats correctly helps create a safer, more consistent temporary surface. The right connector and layout depend on the mat type, the direction of travel and the amount of movement the area will receive.
Before you connect the mats
Start with a route that is as level and clear as practical. Remove loose debris, place the mats in the required orientation and align the connection points before fastening anything.
Choose the right connector
Ground Nurse offers 2-way and 4-way ground mat connectors. A 2-way connector joins mats in a straight run. A 4-way connector joins four corners at an intersection within a larger layout.
Simple installation process
- Lay out the mats so the connection points line up cleanly.
- Fit the appropriate connector beneath or between the mats as required by the product.
- Secure the connection with the supplied hardware and confirm it is seated correctly.
- Check the full route before use, particularly at entry points, turns and areas with regular traffic.
Plan the whole layout
Connectors are part of the system, not an afterthought. They can help maintain alignment, but ground preparation, access width and vehicle movement matter just as much. Allow for turns and avoid using a connection pattern that is not suited to the route.
Compatible matting options
If you are planning a larger route, send through the dimensions and intended traffic. Ground Nurse can help calculate a mat and connector configuration that fits the job.
